A violinist at the Metro Station

At Enfant plaza metro station in  Washington, DC, a man plays violin. 6 Bach’s masterpieces for 45 minutes.

2000 people passed by . Only a 3 year old child stopped to listen carefully to the music, but his mum grabbed him nervously.

He raised a total of $32. Nobody observed when he left.

It was Joshua Bell, one of the best violinists in the world. Just some days before his concert was sold out at Boston.

This concert was an experiment organized by the Washigton Post, to evaluate the perception, the tastes and the priorities of  People’s ordinary lives.

A possible conclusion: if you don’t have time to stop and listen to one of the greatest musician in the World, who’s playing some of the most beautiful pieces ever written, playing on one of the best instruments ever than how many beautiful things are we missing?

This happened in January 2012.

What do you think of this?

About Odile Milton

I travel through words whenever possible. Odile Milton is my signature on the web as I wanted an alter ego to indicate only my writings and works, not my personal life. Odile like the dancer in black swan, and Milton from the novel An old-fashioned girl. View all posts by Odile Milton
