The Art of Louis Comfort TIFFANY. A Book by Vivienne Couldrey

The Art of Louis Comfort TIFFANY. A Book by Vivienne  Couldrey.  This artist was the foremost exponent of Art Nouveau from the jewellery and silver store Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany was the leader of American taste in Art and decoration for 40 years. His creativity found form in stained glass, mosaic, pottery, enamels, tapestries, jewellery, furniture,, landscape and house designing.

The dramatic story of the rise and fall is that of a man convinced of his own genius and celebrated while he was alive (though he died in virtual obscurity), adventurous and talented enough to be unorthodox, ignored but finally vindicated by time.

In his own words “God has given us our talents, not to copy the talents of others, but rather to use our brains and our imagination in order to obtain the revelation of True Beauty”.

His name is still remembered also thanks to Audrey Hepburn’s interpretation in “Breakfast at Tiffany”, great movie after Truman Capote’s novel.

About Odile Milton

I travel through words whenever possible. Odile Milton is my signature on the web as I wanted an alter ego to indicate only my writings and works, not my personal life. Odile like the dancer in black swan, and Milton from the novel An old-fashioned girl. View all posts by Odile Milton
