Creative Writing exercises at WSI-Wall Street institute

What happens when a Teacher proposes a creative writing exercise? At the Wall Street Institute ( I teach in Italy nearby Bologna), interesting experience happen. Join the exercise…

1) Choose your favourite word in english;

2) Say to the class why you chose that word;

3) All the words have to be written on the blackboard by the Teacher

4) We will have 6/8 keywords (or more depending on the number of the students): the students have to write a short story using all of them;

5) For ex. creativity; science; glass; food; holiday; friendship

6) The students will read at turn their own story

7) Each one has to say what was interesting in the story of the neighbour

8) Discussing couples of keywords and come up with ideas: what’s the approach

9) What was the best story? Ask your students about it

10) The result? Learning new writing styles and improving your vocabulary while confronting with new friends

My students were very happy about it! Hope it will be useful for you too!

About Odile Milton

I travel through words whenever possible. Odile Milton is my signature on the web as I wanted an alter ego to indicate only my writings and works, not my personal life. Odile like the dancer in black swan, and Milton from the novel An old-fashioned girl. View all posts by Odile Milton
